After entirely too long of a wait, I've updated my site.
In the beginning of the year I really started to evaluate my work, not only as artist, but also as a business. I enjoy doing gallery exhibitions, but have decided to really slow down on doing so many for a few reasons.
The first is that the work is suffering. In one month last year I did 8 exhibitions. The following month 5. While the exposure is great, and the galleries have been amazing, it's simply madness doing so many. On top of that, the galleries that showed me are no joke, they show hundreds of amazing artists and there's thousands of artists that would like a chance to show. Needless to say, it's extremely competitive and hard to get noticed.
That brings me into my next reason, marketing. Most of you don't know this, but I live in an extremely small town in the middle of nowhere. The closest city to me is Syracuse, which has amazing people, but suffers as many smaller cities do, with a really poor art scene. With some marketing strategies in place, I hustled my way into national magazines, popular websites, and soon after the best pop galleries in the country.
Doing the pop culture stuff is fun and I'll always dabble in it, but I want to create my own brand. There's an insane amount of clothing, plush, and artwork done in this genre and a lot of it comes of as unoriginal and bootlegging to me. If I'm going to spend every day working on my craft, it makes sense to me to create my own properties and get it seen.
And so, that's where I'm at now. I'll be updating my site regularly with new ideas and products. If you have any questions for me, feel free. Thanks for the support everyone.
